THE SPACE:

This incredible 3 bedroom (3 bed), 1 bathroom, 4 season cottage has everything you need and more!

Walk across the flat yard, and open the front door, where you are welcomed with the warm natural cottage beauty.  You will fall in love with this open concept cottage. Every room is filled with natural light, pine ceilings, wood floors, exposed brick and whitewashed walls, carrying the cottage charm throughout!

Kick back and enjoy the views or watch the smart TV with Amazon Prime, Apple TV, and Disney+ in the living room. Surf the net with unlimited reliable Wi-Fi throughout.  

Walkout from the living room to your private oversized wrap around deck, and sunken hot tub. Perfect for unwinding, or enjoying your morning coffee as you watch the beautiful Haliburton sunrise.

A forested  property that exposes the natural distinctions of the Canadian Shield as you wander down the granite steps to the water's edge.  Lounge at the waters edge on the dock, where you will enjoy all day sunshine &  watch the local wildlife.

Summer visitors will have access to:

- two 2 person kayaks

- 2 stand-up paddle boards

- a large floating swim mat

- an expansive 16ft x 20ft dock where you can catch the morning sun rising

- 2 fire pit areas with seating

- propane BBQ

- cottage chairs and seating options throughout

-the cottage also has a wrap around deck off the lakeside of the cottage where the  sunken 4 person Hot Tub & BBQ are located alongside table and chairs for dining

- pull up a stool on the deck and have a local brew at the forest-lake view bar next to the hot tub

- the entire cottage and property including usage of hot tub, waterfront & dock.

 Fall, Winter, Spring  guests will have access to:

- 6 pairs of snowshoes (4 adult, 2 child) & poles

- sleds for sledding

- propane BBQ

- 2 fire-pit areas (one by cottage, one by water)

- the entire cottage and property including usage of 4 person hot tub, waterfront & dock

* Winter tires and/or a 4 wheel drive vehicle recommended for the winter roads in the Haliburton Highlands, the cottage is on a well maintained municipal road, but weather conditions may be difficult without proper tires.

BE OUR GUESTS: 

Sweet Lake Escape is a cozy cottage best suited for a couple, 2 couples, 4 adult friends, and as such we have hosted a number of engagements, honeymoons, anniversary getaways as well as adult friend holidays. We do a maximum of 5 guests (max of 4 adults). 

We do also host small families with mature children/youth. The property includes a hot tub, very deep water off the dock and granite stairs down to the lake that make it better suited to mature children and youth.

HOUSE RULES:

- Check-in: After 4:00 p.m.
- Checkout: 11:00 a.m.

- Maximum of five guests per stay (max 4 adults)

- NO smoking
- NO pets
- NO PARTIES or EVENTS
- NO shoes inside
- NO loud music (sound carries over lake)
- NO children under the age of 6 in the hot tub
- NO children who still wear swim diapers in the hot tub

- Children must always be supervised near or in the sunken hot tub and lake

- septic tank DO NOT FLUSH or DISCARD ANYTHING down drain except toilet paper & natural waste

- Scent free environment

ADDITIONAL RULES:

Please leave the cottage clean and tidy when checking out. Do not leave dirty dishes, coffee grinds in the coffee maker, or waste behind. Place towels used in laundry baskets in laundry room for the cleaner.

Do not leave any of your garbage or food products behind. It is your responsibility to sort your waste and drop it off at the local dump (instructions and dump card will be provided). 

This is a quiet road with a mix of permanent and seasonal residents. Be respectful of their right to privacy and keep noise to a minimum (local noise by-laws are from 11pm to 6am).

PARTIES/ANY ADDITIONAL UNDECLARED GUESTS ARE ABSOLUTELY NOT PERMITTED AND GROUNDS FOR IMMEDIATE REMOVAL FROM THE PROPERTY.

Maximum of five guests per stay (max 4 adults). Absolutely no additional guests aside from declared guests are permitted. This does not mean that you can invite additional guests at the last minute of your stay. You must confirm the number of guests at the time of booking. You must also provide all guests legal names at time of booking. 

Anything found in the cottage is to be left in the cottage. We understand that accidents happen, please communicate with us if any occur.

Accessing the lake is at your own risk as well. We are not responsible for your safety if you choose to go onto the lake during the winter season or if you are in the lake for swimming during the summer season (adult life jackets are provided during summer season). During the winter season, we DO NOT encourage guests to go onto the lake when frozen. Please know that if guests choose to go onto the frozen lake, they are doing so at their own risk. Please practice water safety in the lake and hot tub. Please note that you are entering the water at the lake or hot tub at your own risk. 

If you use the hot tub, you will be in charge of it's upkeep (adding chemicals, water etc.) during your stay. It is a 4 person hot tub. Improper care of the hot tub can lead to costly repairs or personal illness. Children are not to be left unattended in the hot tub. No toys or outside materials should be brought into the hot tub. No children under the age of 6 or who are wearing swim diapers are permitted in the hot tub. Do not play with the buttons on the hot tub or take apart the filter (it is also not a toy). Follow the instructions provided and enjoy the hot tub!

We don’t mind smoking outside (please collect your butts and be aware of fire hazards during some seasons) but absolutely no smoking indoors. Illegal drug use is prohibited.

We welcome guests' use of the fire pits as long as it is during the evening hours (as required by the county) and guests have ensured that fire is smothered prior to retiring for the evening. IF THERE IS A FIRE BAN IN EFFECT AND YOU HAVE A FIRE YOU WILL BE FINED BY THE COUNTY, AND EVICTED FROM THE PROPERTY, CHECK THE LOCAL  FIRE REGULATIONS PRIOR TO STARTING A FIRE. THERE IS ZERO TOLERANCE FOR THE USE OF FIREWORKS ON THE PROPERTY AT ANY TIME.  Use of Fireworks will result in immediate removal from the property with zero refund. ANY VIOLATION OF THESE RULES WILL RESULT IN THE IMMEDIATE EVICTION FROM THE PROPERTY.

RECREATIONAL VEHICLES (ATV'S, DIRT BIKES, GOLF CARTS, SNOWMOBILES) ARE NOT ALLOWED ON THE PROPERTY UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCE. GUESTS ARE ALSO NOT PERMITTED TO BRING ANY MOTORIZED WATER VEHICLES (BOATS, JET SKIS, FISHING BOATS) ON THE PROPERTY OR ATTACHED TO THE DOCK. THIS IS FOR LIABILITY ISSUES. ANY VIOLATION OF THESE RULES WILL RESULT IN THE IMMEDIATE EVICTION FROM THE PROPERTY.

The property is monitored by a RING security camera, which is located outside, facing the driveway (camera is not hidden and in plain sight). This is not monitored on a regular basis, but we do monitor upon check-in and check-out. There are no cameras or listening devices inside the cottage.

We will be available via telephone, text or email 24/7 during your stay.

COVID 19 RULES:

Enhanced Cleaning/disinfection: Enhanced cleaning/disinfection measures have been put into place for the protection of guests, cottage cleaners and cottage owners during the time of COVID. All mattress protectors and pillow protectors will be washed and dried at high heat between each group. If comforters are provided, they will be washed and dried at high heat between each group as well. Please pay close attention to the Cottage Information Sheet, as you will be responsible for bringing your own bedding and pillow cases. After the cleaner has performed their regular cleaning routine, they will do a full disinfection sweep of all hard surfaces, counters, handles, door knobs, small appliances, arm rests, etc.

Before you leave: We ask that you please leave the cottage neat and tidy, wash and put away all dishes and remove all garbage prior to departure. The one additional step that we ask from guests is to please do a quick lap with provided disinfectant and wipe all counters, switches, handrails, arm rests, counter tops and other hard surfaces with disinfectant. Please also place all towels, and comforters used in the hampers in the laundry room, they will be laundered by the cleaner. This will help protect our cleaners/owners when they enter immediately after departure. (they will also do a more thorough disinfection sweep during the change-over).

Occupancy numbers: It is extremely important that guests abide by posted occupancy limits for the property (5 people - 4 adult max). All guests must be registered on the rental agreement. Please provide all legal names of guests at time of booking to avoid cancellation. Unauthorized guests could lead to the immediate eviction of the entire group without refund. Nobody but registered guests should enter the cottage. 

Shop Local! Local businesses in cottage country rely on your support to survive and are eager to welcome back our summer guests. Most local businesses remain open, albeit, with updated operating models. All local restaurants are offering take-out and the majority also have set-up outdoor dining facilities. It has been a difficult time for restaurants, tip your servers well! Local stores are open but are limiting the number of patrons allowed in at one time. Grocery stores are open and fully stocked. Just like at home, this is not the time to bring the entire family to the grocery store, most grocery stores are limiting to one person per family so plan accordingly. Local farmers markets will proceed this summer with updated operating procedures. Proper physical distancing and common sense should be exercised at all times while out and about in cottage country.
